Changing a Holiday Stamp to Fit Any Occasion Plus MDS Downloads

On March 19th, I showed you one of my favorite new stamps in the Mini Occasion Catalog.  It is called Easter Blossoms (item #121905 - Wood or #122057 - Clear Mount).   The little girl silhouette is so gorgeous and I want to use her year round.   She is carrying an basket of Easter eggs.   At class on Saturday this is one of the cards we made, and we discussed how it could be changed to use year round.

I took a tiny flower punch, curled up the petals and added in the pearl.  Now she is carrying a basket of flowers.

If you want to eliminate the basket completely, ink the stamp with a Stampin' Write Marker in the color of your choice but DON'T put any ink on the basket or handle.  Then just the girl and the grass will be in your silhouette.

There are NEW MDS downloads too.   You can view them on-line.

You may order from my Stampin' Up! website 24/7 by CLICKING HERE, then click on Shop Now or by contacting me directly. My e-mail link is at the top of the screen.

A Touch of Pearls to Add Elegance

On March 20th (blog entry here) I showed you an example of this card.  It was one of the cards I taught at class on Saturday.   During class we discussed how it could be changed out by switching colors, doing glitter glue, and it was suggested that adding Stampin' Up! Basic Pearls (item #119247) would be a perfect touch.

I needed a Thank You card, so decided to try adding in the pearls.  I'm sure pleased with the results, and really think it adds a special touch to this card.

Just a reminder that Sale-a-Bration ends on Thursday.

Sneak Peek Using Shadow Technique for Decorative Label Punch

This is a card I made using the Decorative Label Punch Shadow Technique that was posted on my blog March 23rd.   There is also a video showing you how to create the shadow technique.

The DSP is Paisley Petals Designer, item #122367, which will be available during the month of April.   The flowers and tiny circles placed on the decorative labels are from the Sale-a-Bration pack called Ice Cream Parlor.   They are "quick accents" that you just lift up and place on your card stock.  They already have adhesive on them.

Sale-a-Bration ends on March 31st.   Time is running out, so order soon so you don't miss out on earning FREE products.

Creating a Shadow for the Decorative Label - Video Tutorial

I love the look of the shadow behind the Decorative Label.   It is very easy to create.   I have had a number of people ask me about it, so felt it was time to do a tutorial so you would know how to create the shadow too.

The photos above represent the cuts I made PLUS I have a brand new video showing you step by step how to create it.  To view the video you will need to come to my blog.   The video does not show up in the e-mails.

NOTE:   The holder I'm using in the video for the multi-purpose glue is a magnetic paperclip holder.  I purchased it at our local business supply store.  It was a fluke when I tried it.  It worked so well I've now use it all the time.

Another Sneak Peek, Mother's Day Cards

The cards above were made using Four Frames Stamp Set (sneak peek) and Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper (sneak peek also).   These products will not be available for purchase until April 1st.

The colors in the DSP package are:  Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Chip, Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy, Old Olive, River Rock, Soft Suede and Tangerine Tango.   Some of the colors are softer versions than our solid color card stock.

Today I wanted to show you how changing out just the card base color could change the look of a card.   First card was made with the main color being Old Olive.  The 2nd card, I used Tangerine Tango.   When you make a card, don't hesitate to try a different color.  It really can make a difference.

Do you have a preference on which card you like better?   Feel free to leave a comment.

I used the same piece of DSP for the main design and the cut-out flower.  The cut-out flower was accented with our Basic Pearl Jewels, item #119247.

Bugs and Kisses, Father's Day Card

Just a fun card to make for Father's Day.  What child wouldn't enjoy making this to give to their dad.   It's a mix of Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, and the buttons are Elegant Eggplant.  The 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Old Olive was a perfect accessory for this card.

The inside of the card has the Happy Father's Day sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Easter Blossoms Stamp Set - Easter Card #2

Another card using the Easter Blossoms Stamp Set.   I really like the apple/cherry blossom stamp.   I use a light pink card stock and then stamped it with Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink.  I highlighted the centers with Stampin' Up!'s uni-ball white gel pen.  I thought the Vintage Flower Adornment was a great touch.   This stamp truly could be used year round and is not one that is for Easter only.

Cards for Soldiers - Fun Flowers

These are just a few of the cards I made the other day and have put aside for "Cards for Soldiers" who are overseas.  This gives them cards that they can send to family and friends.  The cards are blank on the inside so there is room for them to write a letter home.

I used the Bigz L Die - Fun Flowers, item #121812 to make all of the flowers with DSP (Designer Series Paper).

    1. Very Vanilla Piece:
                                                               i.      Cut off one part of the cone (you can include the rounded top if you would like) so that it is just a bit smaller than the card base.

    4. Attach flower to top of card front – do not get it too high on the card.
  3. Stamp sentiment on Very Vanilla banner, crease & fold, then attach to card.
This will fit in an A2 envelope at an angle as long as you didn't place the flower too high on the cone.  Remember too that if you use the antique brads or thicker brads/buttons, you may need to use a padded envelope PLUS the card will require extra postage because of the thickness.

Weekend Card Map - March 14th

This is the final card map for the weekend.   This card is KISS card - keep it super simple.   The base is a solid color, then it is accented with DSP (designer series paper), a ribbon & bow added, then a sentiment.  Quick, easy, and very nice.

You can totally change out the colors and DSP to what you have on hand.  If you don't have a ribbon, accent with a border punch and brad.

Weekend Card Map - March 13th

Welcome to our 2nd in the series of card maps for this weekend.   There will be an additional one on Monday (tomorrow).   I taught two sets of classes yesterday, plus a team meeting (both so much fun) so thought I would do an additional card map for you.

I used a wide ribbon in the card map above, but you could substitute it with card stock or any other type of embellishment you would like.   Also have 2 layered circles.

Colors in the card maps are done specifically to show a contrast NOT to state that these are the colors you should use.  Why not pick out some card stock that you haven't used it a while and build your card from there.

Remember that Sale-a-Bration only has just over two weeks left.   Don't miss out on the opportunity to earn FREE products from Stampin' Up!.

Weekend Card Map - March 12th

On my Facebook page I've had a number of people ask that I continue to do Card Map samples for my blog.  As a result, I will be posting card maps that I created in My Digital Studio.   I hope that you will have fun using them.  Remember that your cards do NOT have to be an exact duplicate of what I have shown.   If I have squares and you want circles, do circles.  If I have design card stock shown and you want solid, use solid.  For example, in the card map above I have used 3 squares.   You could substitute them with 3 large buttons, 3 bows, 3 ovals etc.

Have fun with it.

Sneak Peek: Spring is Blossoming #5 Plus NEWS

This is the last design in the Four Frames Stamp Set.   You could easily color in the flowers of the stamp set with markers, watercolor pencils or crayons.   The last 5 days of post have used all the same stamp set, same design of paper, same card stock ... but look at all the different cards I created.

Four Frames.   It will be available in your choice of wood mount (#123440)  or clear mount (#123442).   The printed card stock I used is Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper (item #122367).

Colors used in my projects:   River Rock, Marina Mist, and Early Espresso

This stamp set is a perfect match for the Decorative Label Punch, item #120907.

Just a reminder that this won't be available till April 1.

Brand new My Digital Studio Downloads are available for purchase.  They can be viewed on-line at this link.

And the latest news from Stampin' Up! about the Ornament Punch:

Sneak Peek: Spring is Blossoming #2

On Sunday, I gave you a 2nd card map and a challenge to create a card or scrapbook layout using it.   Did anyone give it a try?  I hope so.

Sunday night I worked on my two card map creations.  One was posted yesterday and the 2nd one today.   It was a great way to showcase and give you SNEAK PEEKS of our new products that will premiere April 1 - April 30, 2010 during Spring is Blossoming Promotion from Stampin' Up!.

I did use the Big Shot Top Note Die, Scallop Edge Border Paper Punch, 5 Petal Flower Paper Punch and our Vintage Flower Adornments (#121879) in this card.  Colors used were River Rock, Marina Mist, and Early Espresso.

SNEAK PEEKS included the Four Frames Stamp Set (wood-item #123440 or clear mount-item #123442) and Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper (item #122367).  Neither of these products will be available for purchase until April.
