Hostess Rewards/Dollars - Carry On Stamp Set

Did you realize that if you place a minimum $150 order (before tax and shipping) that you earn free items from Stampin' Up!.   The Hostess Dollars can be used for exclusive Hostess Products in the catalog OR you can use them to purchase other Stampin' Up! products or a combination of both.   The choice is yours.   The Hostess Dollars cannot be redeemed in cash or credit.

Here's how it works:   A $150 order (before tax and shipping) earns you $25 in Hostess Dollars.  The Carry On Stamp Set featured above is one of the exclusive Hostess items available.   Altho it has a $17.95 Value in clear mount, you can use $10 of your Hostess Dollars to pay for it.   So if you choose this, it will leave you $15 left to use on other products of Hostess items.   You are charged tax on the Hostess Dollars.   Hostess exclusive products are available only with Hostess Dollars.   They are not available for regular purchase.  I really appreciate that Stampin' Up! offers Hostess Benefits to our customers without the need to have a party/workshop.

The cards above were fun to make and really quick and easy.   I mounted all 3 stamps/sayings on one clear mount block lining them up with grid paper underneath.   Then stamped.   If I had wanted different colors for each part, I could of either stamped individually and lined up with the Stamp-a-ma-jig OR used a Stampin' Marker to color them in. I used the Creative Elements Stamp Set for the floral flourish about the edges with Crumb Cake Classic Ink.   Raspberry Ripple Card Stock and Classic Ink were the main color choice on both cards.

Stampin' Up! Products Used:
Raspberry Ripple Card Stock, item #126842
Raspberry Ripple Classic Ink, item #126859
Whisper White Card Stock, item #100730
Crumb Cake Classic Ink, item #126975
Carry On Stamp Set, item #126645 (Hostess Only) - Wood
Carry On Stamp Set, item #126647 (Hostess Only) - Clear Mount
Creative Elements Stamp Set, item #122645 - Wood OR #122647 - Clear Mount

Just a reminder too that today is the very last day (July 31, 2012) to order the Reason To Smile Stamp set for $5 with a minimum $50 (before tax & shipping) purchase.  You can read more about it HERE.

SNEAK PEEK - Holiday Ornament Framelits & More

I actually used the new Framelits Dies - Holiday Ornaments for this card, but I feel it cold be used for most any occasion.  The Framelits - Holiday Ornaments to have a wonderful stamp set that matches it called Ornament Keepsakes.   Punch Pack - Merry Minis (tree, ornament, and star) also have a matching stamp set.   They were not used in this card tho.

Stampin' Up! Items Used:   *Holiday Mini Items available August 1st
Framelits - Holiday Ornaments, item #127816*  (has matching stamp set)
Punch Pack - Merry Minis, item #126882* (has matching stamp set)
Punch - 1 1/4" Scallop Circle *
Glimmer Paper - Silver, item #124005
Cherry Cobbler Card Stock, item #119685
Ittey Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, item #118309
Natural Composition Specialty DSP, item #126917

Did you noticed the glossy design on the ornaments?   I tried to angle the card so that you could see it on the right side.   It is from the Natural Composition Specialty DSP.   These DSP has glossy, raised patterns that are printed on heavy-weight Natural paper.  Patterns appear brown and glossy.  There are 12 sheets:  2 ea of 6 single-sided designs.   Really fun to use, and it gives a great accent to your card design.

SNEAK PEEK - Halloween Items And More!!!

I had so much fun creating this Halloween card this week.  Couldn't wait to share it with all of you.  It is loaded with all kinds of new items .... can you pick them out?

Stampin' Up! Products Used:   * = Holiday Mini available August 1
Core'dinations Card Stock - Cherry Cobbler, item #127846*
Stampin' Sanding System - Stampin' Sanding Block, item #129367 (not shown)*
Core'dinations Dust Buddy, item #129366 (not shown - see note below)*
Googly Ghouls Stamp Set, item #128060 - Wood OR #128063 - Clear*
Googlies - Set of 50 adhesive-backed googly eyes ea 5mm, item #127539*
Textured Impressions Embossing Folder - Woodgrain, item #127821*
Early Expresso Card Stock, item #119686
Bitty Banners Framelits, item #129267
Apothecary Accents Framelits, item #127003

Core'dinations Card Stock is 80lb sandable card stock.  One is textured, one side smooth and the inside layer is monochromatic color.  When you sand the inside color is revealed.   I ran the Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations Card Stock thru my Big Shot using the Woodgrain Embossing Folder with no tabs.   Then I sanded using the sanding block.   Please note there will be a great deal of dust from doing this.   I found out the hard way too that it is important NOT to have the ceiling fan going right above or the air conditioning blowing.  The Core'dinations Dust Buddy will help you pick up the dust.   HOWEVER, I do want to pass on a word of warning if you have asthma or scent sensitivities:   The Dust Buddy has  a very strong odor to it.   If you "air" it out, you lose the sticky properties to it and there is still an odor to it.  I highly recommend using the Dust Buddy in a well ventilated area.   Personally I could not use it.   I turned off all the fans, worked in area that I had white paper down in a wide area under my project.   Then when finished, I used a lightly damp paper towel to clean up the excess red dust plus thru away the white paper underneath my project too.   I'm sure most will not have any problem with the Dust Buddy, but I wanted to let you know my opinion.

SNEAK PEEK: Framelits-Window Frames Collection

Remember when you use the framelits for the Big Shot, you do not have to have them layered in graduating sizes one on top of the other.   Spread them out a bit and/or rearrange like I have done above.   The Window Frames Collection will be available as of August 1, 2012.

I like that with the butterflies I can punch them out in a solid color or with designer paper.  Another option is to stamp the image (Papillon Potpourri) and then punch out.

Framelits Dies - Window Frames Collection, item #129021
Elegant Butterfly Paper Punch, item #127526
Papillon Potpourri Stamp set, item #123757 - Wood OR #123759 - Clear

SNEAK PEEK - Dazzling Details Silver Glitter Glue

You may have noticed that I absolutely LOVE the new Elegant Butterfly Paper Punch.  It is available now.   I even used it with Decor Elements Vinyl (we no longer sell this product) to decorate my iPad case to make it uniquely mine.

Butterflies are each accented with the new Dazzling Details Silver Glitter Glue, item #127845.  They were attached to the card base with dimensionals and then the wings were slightly curled upward.   The background is the cloud sponging technique shown HERE.

Sneak Peek - Autumn Accents for the Big Shot

These cards were in my video tutorial on sponging sun rays and clouds ... click here to view.   Both cards use our new Stampin' Dazzle Markers (leaf card - gold only, butterfly card - both the gold and the silver markers).   Sneak Peek of Autumn Accents which is a new BigZ die that has 5 different styles and sizes of leaves.   The large maple leaf is my favorite and it has been used on both cards.   The butterflies are each two layers with a dimensional to add height.  There is actually a stamp set that matches up with the Autumn Accents die.   You cut out the leaves with your Big Shot, then stamp the images using the Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement.   The stamp set is not shown on these cards.   Sneak Peek items are not available until August 1, 2012.

SNEAK PEEK Gold & Silver Stampin' Dazzle Markers

If you go to my sponging technique (sun rays/sun burst) you will see these heart elements.  Click here to view the video.   Just having a bit of fun with them.   The scallop circle with blue accents above is what I used to make the clouds/sky in the video.   Thought it made a perfect accent here too.

Did you notice the stitch marks and the outlines on the first two cards.  These were done with our brand new Stampin' Dazzle Markers in silver and in gold.   They are metallic silver and gold glitter markers.   I love these markers, they are easy to use and cover well.   I, personally, don't see the glitter element but do see the metallic in them.   Awesome new marker products that will be available on August 1st, 2012.

Flying High Card (Need for Speed Stamp Set)

For this card I used the cloud sponging technique (video HERE) that I demonstrated to you on Friday.   When I realized that I had a military jet plane stamp, I knew this would be perfect to use with my cloud background.  You could add in a sentiment of your choice or leave the card as is.

Need for Speed Stamp Set, item #122715 - Wood OR #122717 - Clear

It's a great stamp set with an ATV, speed boat, race car, and the plane above.  I will have samples of each of the stamps during this week.

Thinking of You Butterflies Tutorial

I was having such fun with the red, white, and blue theme that I created two new cards for today and tomorrow.   I'm also including tutorials so that you can create the cards too.    These two cards used the same basic elements but each has its own distinctive look.

On the card above look closely at the whisper white and the real red.   The texture was created with the same embossing folder.   On the whisper white the image is upraised.  On the real red, it is depressed into the card stock.   Flipping the card stock after going thru the Big Shot is what creates the different look.

Stampin’ Up! Products Used:
Whisper White Card Stock, item #100730 – 1 piece 2 ½” x 3 ¼” , 3 ¾” x 5”, and 1 scrap piece
Real Red Card Stock, item #100052 – 1 ¼” x 2 ¼” and 1 scrap piece
Night of Navy Card Stock, item #100069 – 5 ½” x 8 ½”
Summer Smooches DSP, item #125409
Modern Label Paper Punch, item #119849
Word Window Paper Punch, item #119857
Elegant Butterfly Paper Punch, item #127526
Small circles, pearls, or rhinestones – 3 needed
Stampin' Dimensionals, item #104430
Textured Embossing Folder - Fancy Fan, item #127751
Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set, item #115370 - Wood OR #127802 - Clear

Directions:
1.       Fold and crease  Night of Navy Card Stock.
2.       Punch out the Modern Label Design from the Whisper White and the Real Red Card Stock pieces.
a.       Run both pieces thru the Big Shot using the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.
b.      Attach to the card base.   (notice how the base color show thru giving the optical illusion that you have actually layered the modern label in the Night of Navy card stoc,.
3.       Stamp the sentiment and then punch out with Word Window Punch.
a.       Attach to your card centering in the modern label punched out area on.
4.       For the other modern label area, use rhinestones, pearls, or small circles to accent it.
5.       Punch out three Elegant Butterflies.
a.       Attach Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back center of each one, then attach to card.  This will allow the wings to be up from the card base which will give the illusions of flight.
6.       Attach the 3 ¾” x 5” piece to the inside of the card using SNAIL adhesive.

We have discovered that the ink smears when stamped on Whisper White and Very Vanilla Card Stock; however, it still works on the other colors of card stock. We are testing both the ink and card stock. At this time, we do not know when this issue will be resolved and recommend using the Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad (item 101406) on Whisper White and Very Vanilla Card Stock. We are working on this daily and will let you know when we have more information.

Ink Refills

When you use the firm foam pads you get a more solid and crisp image. The firm foam pads hold less ink and release more onto your stamp which means you will need to refill the pad more frequently.

Thinking of You - Butterflies

Here's a card that is a fun way to let someone know you of thinking of them. The butterflies have dimensions underneath in the center of each to raise them up from the card base.  You could also curl the wings a bit too to add a bit more dimension.   I ran the whisper white card stock and the real red card stock thru an embossing folder to add texture and interest.

Happy Birthday America - Happy 4th of July

Red, White, and Blue combination.

I've always loved the colors red, white, and blue together.   So when I was thinking 4th of July and what to do, I knew I had to make a card with these colors and some stars.   I have 3 cards this week that will use this color combination.

Any time you have a darker color card base, be sure to insert some white card stock inside with adhesive so that a note can be easily written and read.

Stampin' Up! Products Used:
Whisper White Card Stock, item #100730
Brushed Silver Card Stock, item #100712
Real Red Card Stock, item #100052
Night of Navy Card Stock, item #100069
Small Star Paper Punch - retired (you could use circles, small flowers instead)
Modern Label Paper Punch, item #119849
Word Window Paper Punch, item #119857
1/8" Taffeta Ribbon - Real Red, item #119251
Stampin' Dimensionals, item #104430
Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set, item #115370 - Wood OR #127802 - Clear

The dimensionals were used under the stars and the Happy Birthday banner to give them a 3D effect.

Thoughts of You Card Sample

Today's card uses the very similar design to the card from yesterday.  However it creates a totally different look.   I used a square instead of a rectangle for the background and used the same colors, stamp set, card stock, and framelits.  With the framelits, I created a floral border that allows the design to show thru from the square underneath.  This card could be used for a sympathy, thinking of you, love and so much more.

Stampin' Up! Products Used:
DSP (Designer Series Paper) - Floral District, item #126919
Floral Frames Framelits, item #127012.
1" Square paper punch, item #124094
Loving Thoughts Stamp Set, item #125843 in Wood OR #125845 in Clear.
Very Vanilla card stock - item #101650,
Lucky Limeade card stock - item #122926
Stampin' Dimensionals - item #104430

Layered Memories Card

I had lots of fun creating this card yesterday using Stampin' Up! products.   I wanted a mix of fun and elegance.   This card could be used for a sympathy, thinking of you, love and so much more.   I was especially pleased how the DSP (Designer Series Paper) created scallops for my green accent piece that I cut out with the Floral Frames Framelits, item #127012.   The DSP is Floral District, item #126919.   The center square was cut out using a 1" Square paper punch, item #124094.   If you would like rounded corners on your squares and rectangles, why not use our 3/16" Corner Paper Punch, item #119871.   The stamp set for this card is Loving Thoughts, item #125843 in Wood OR #125845 in Clear.

The layering of the Very Vanilla card stock - item #101650, Floral District DSP - #126919 and Lucky Limeade card stock - item #122926 add to the beauty of this card.  Stampin' Dimensionals - item #104430 were added under the center flower and the sentiment for depth to the card.

If you wanted to take it up a notch more, why not add in an embellishment to the very center such as a brad, jewel, or button of your choice.    The edges of the card base and sentiment could be sponged with classic ink also.
