Scented Stampin' Emboss Powder by Stampin' Up!

Stampin' Up! now is offering Scented Stampin' Emboss Poser in five scents.   Emboss delightful scents into stamped images.   Simply stamp the image in the ink color you want, then emboss with a scent to match.   Embossed scent lasts up to 2 weeks.   Container is 1/2 oz and the powder is clear.

Scents Available from Stampin' Up!:
Vanilla scented, item #125590
Melon scented, item #127034
Cherry scented, item #127035
Sugar & Spice scented, item #127829
Peppermint Sticks scented, item #127830

This is how I would do the embossing:
1.  Stamp your stamp in a Versamark pad (item #102283), then in the color pad of your choice, then immediately stamp on your card stock.
2.  Completely cover the stamped image with the Scented Emboss Powder, brush off excess.
3.  Heat with Heat Tool (item #129053) until glossy, then let dry completely.

I really like the Stampin' Up! embossing powders.  I have not used the scented ones because of allergies to scents, but I have heard many great comments about them.   Just remember the scent only lasts up to 2 weeks, so don't make your project too far in advance if you want it to be scented.   Even with the scent gone tho, you will have a beautifully embossed card.

SNEAK PEEK - Halloween Items And More!!!

I had so much fun creating this Halloween card this week.  Couldn't wait to share it with all of you.  It is loaded with all kinds of new items .... can you pick them out?

Stampin' Up! Products Used:   * = Holiday Mini available August 1
Core'dinations Card Stock - Cherry Cobbler, item #127846*
Stampin' Sanding System - Stampin' Sanding Block, item #129367 (not shown)*
Core'dinations Dust Buddy, item #129366 (not shown - see note below)*
Googly Ghouls Stamp Set, item #128060 - Wood OR #128063 - Clear*
Googlies - Set of 50 adhesive-backed googly eyes ea 5mm, item #127539*
Textured Impressions Embossing Folder - Woodgrain, item #127821*
Early Expresso Card Stock, item #119686
Bitty Banners Framelits, item #129267
Apothecary Accents Framelits, item #127003

Core'dinations Card Stock is 80lb sandable card stock.  One is textured, one side smooth and the inside layer is monochromatic color.  When you sand the inside color is revealed.   I ran the Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations Card Stock thru my Big Shot using the Woodgrain Embossing Folder with no tabs.   Then I sanded using the sanding block.   Please note there will be a great deal of dust from doing this.   I found out the hard way too that it is important NOT to have the ceiling fan going right above or the air conditioning blowing.  The Core'dinations Dust Buddy will help you pick up the dust.   HOWEVER, I do want to pass on a word of warning if you have asthma or scent sensitivities:   The Dust Buddy has  a very strong odor to it.   If you "air" it out, you lose the sticky properties to it and there is still an odor to it.  I highly recommend using the Dust Buddy in a well ventilated area.   Personally I could not use it.   I turned off all the fans, worked in area that I had white paper down in a wide area under my project.   Then when finished, I used a lightly damp paper towel to clean up the excess red dust plus thru away the white paper underneath my project too.   I'm sure most will not have any problem with the Dust Buddy, but I wanted to let you know my opinion.

Announcement from Stampin' Up! - Firm Foam Stampin' Pads

Firm Foam Stampin' Pads

July 5, 2012

Basic Black Stampin' Pad

We are working on an issue with the Basic Black Classic Stampin' Pad (item 126980). We have discovered that the ink smears when stamped on Whisper White and Very Vanilla Card Stock; however, it still works on the other colors of card stock. We are testing both the ink and card stock. At this time, we do not know when this issue will be resolved and recommend using the Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad (item 101406) on Whisper White and Very Vanilla Card Stock. We are working on this daily and will let you know when we have more information.

Ink Refills

When you use the firm foam pads you get a more solid and crisp image. The firm foam pads hold less ink and release more onto your stamp which means you will need to refill the pad more frequently.

Daydream Medallions Stamp Set - Stampin' Up!

Stampin' Up! has so many wonderful coordinating stamps sets and paper punches/Big Shot products.   It's hard to pick a favorite.   Earlier this month, I showed you some of the Floral Frames Framelits that I had cut out.   I have the stamp set that goes with them, and can't wait to try it out.

 Floral Frames Framelits, item #127012
Five layering dies (largest: 5 1/4" wide).   Coordinates with Daydream Medallions Stamp Set on page 117 of the catalog.

Daydream Medallions Stamp Set, item #126465 - Wood OR #126467 - Clear

These combined will make beautiful layered embellishments for a card or scrapbook page.   Wouldn't they make wonderful layered flowers too.  Since I have both of these sets, you can be sure I will be posting samples on my blog of them very soon.

Elegant Butterfly Paper Punch

As most of you are aware, I absolutely LOVE paper punches and Big Shot Dies.   When I saw the new Elegant Butterfly Paper Punch, I knew it was a must have item for my collection.  I just realized this weekend that there is a matching stamp set to use with it which is called "Papillon Potpourri".

Elegant Butterfly Paper Punch, item #127526.

Butterfly is approximately 1 5/8" wide by 1" high.  It is beautiful punched out on solid color card stock or with our Designer Series Paper.

Papillon Potpourri, item #123757- Wood OR #123759 - Clear

This stamp set coordinates with the paper punch.  Oh my gosh, this is on my "NEED" list now.   Think of all of the colors of ink I could use along with different colors of cards stock to create some truly amazing butterflies.

Stampin' Supplies

With the introduction of the 2012-2013 annual catalog, we have made a very big change to our Stampin' Pads.

Introducing. firm foam pads! They change your stamping experience for the better.

We know you're going to love these new Stampin' Pads-just look at all the exciting benefits listed below:

Provide better ink coverage for your stamps!
    Light-tap stamping produces flawless images!
Pad stays juicier for longer resulting in better ink pad longevity!

In addition, our new Stampin' Pads

* Have a crisply printed, glossy label on the top of the pad that is easier to read and that will not fade or chip off!
*  Come with color name labels in all four languages (English, Spanish, French, and German)-just choose your language, peel it off the back, and add it to the side of the pad for easy identification!
*  Use the same patented flip-top case design that stores the inking surface upside down, so the pad surface stays moist!
 *  Are available in all colors, including our exclusive In Colors!

Please note: Five ink colors have undergone formula changes to improve functionality and color stability with the new firm foam pads. These colors are

    Basic Black
    Basic Gray
    Marina Mist
    Perfect Plum
    Tempting Turquoise

All five colors of the reformulated inks have been fully tested and approved. While using the new ink formula in the old Stampin' Pads is fine, we do not recommend using the old ink formula in the new firm foam pads.

Mary's Note:   I have some of the new stamp pads ... they are fantastic!!!!

Here is additional information from Stampin' Up! for you about the new firm foam pads:

New Firm Foam Pads FAQs

Updated May 14, 2012

Q: Why did we switch from felt pads to firm foam pads?
A: We have worked very hard to improve the functionality of our Classic Stampin’ Pads. The firm foam allows for better ink coverage; plus it stays juicer and lasts longer.

Q: Do old Classic Stampin’ Ink Refills work with the new firm foam pads?
A: Yes, with the exception of Basic Black, Basic Gray, Marina Mist, Perfect Plum, and Tempting Turquoise, which have been reformulated to work with the new foam pad material. We do not recommend using old ink refills in these colors with the new firm foam pads.

Q: Before I use my firm foam pad, do I need to tap it and massage the ink around?
A:  No. The firm foam pads are ready for use immediately. The best stamping technique with the firm foam pad is light tapping.

Q: My pad is too wet. What should I do?
A: We suggest using a paper towel to remove some of the ink. The amount of ink in each pad is carefully monitored in production to ensure the two-year shelf life.

Q: The firm foam on my lighter color pads looks blotchy. Is this normal?
A: Yes. The blotchiness is caused by the characteristics of the pad material. It does not affect the stamped image.

Q: When I first stamp with certain colors, my images seem a lot darker. Why is this happening?
A: When stamping with your old pads, you had to work hard to get even ink coverage on your stamp. With the new firm foam pad, the stamp gets a lot more ink on it so when you stamp, your image will appear darker.  Once your stamped image dries, the color will look normal.

Q: When I compare the firm foam pads to my felt pads, some of the colors don’t seem to match. Why is this?
A: The firm foam and felt will not match exactly. Ink reacts differently to different materials. We have quality checked each ink color to ensure that the stamped ink color is true.

Q: What is shelf life of the firm foam pads? How long will the pad last before I need to re-ink it?
A: Shelf life is two years from the manufactured date, which means if you do not use the pad for two years, it should remain well saturated. If you use the pad frequently, the pad may need to be re-inked before the two years.

Q: What is the best way to remove the color labels from the bottom of the ink pad?
A: Start at the right bottom corner (just above the barcode) and slowly peel the corner up by removing both layers.

Q: Which end of the case do you apply the label to?
A: The label goes on the end where you open the case.

Q: If the ink pad becomes saturated with ink or liquid, will it cause the label to fall off?
A: No, the label should not be affected. However, like most labels, if you pick at it or try and remove it, it may start to peel up.

Q: What are some additional features of the new firm foam pads?
A: See additional features below:
  • The firm foam is nice and flat and will not become wavy.
  • The firm foam material does not imprint on the stamp images like the felt pad sometimes did. However, because the firm foam material is a foam base material, the stamp image can momentarily leave an imprint on the pad, which can transfer to a second stamped image. By inking your stamp on different areas of the pad or waiting momentarily for the ink to rise back to the top, you can easily avoid this situation.
  • The firm foam material is soft and has a nice bounce to it. It’s not hard like the felt is.
  • The ink lay-down (how the ink is absorbed into the card stock) is even, not blotchy, and dries quickly. It has an increased opacity and stamps solid images beautifully.

Q: Will Stampin’ Spots use the new firm foam pad?
A: No. Stampin’ Spots will remain the same.

Q: Can I use the reformulated ink with my Stampin’ Spots?
A: Yes.

Q: Can I use the reformulated ink with my Stampin’ Around Wheels?
A: Yes.

Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Dazzling Details Glitter Glue

I have had a number of questions about my white/purple glue holder that is shown in a couple of my videos.  I have found that when I am working on a project that storing the glue upside down keeps the glue at the tip of the bottle and makes it so much easier to use.

The white/purple holder is a magnetic paperclip holder that I found a while back at a office supply store.

The amber glass tree stump is actually an antique toothpick holder that I found this weekend for about $5 at the local antique store.

Other items that would work (just be sure that it has a flat base and is heavier than the bottle of glue you are storing in it):  candlestick holder, shot glass, paperclip holder, toothpick holder, tea light candle holder.   Can you think of any others that might work?

Quick and Easy Cards Using Designer Stickers - Sweet Shop

The following 13 cards were made using only Whisper White card stock for the bases, stickers from the Designer Sticker - Sweet Shop pack (item #125584) and a Sale-A-Bration stamp set called Elementary Elegance Stamp Set (item #125120 - Wood or item #125122 - Clear Mount).

Sweet Shop Designer Stickers comes with 4 sheets of clear stickers; 2 sheets ea. of 2 designs.  6"x6".

I challenged myself to see how many cards I could create using just those items.   So often we each need a quick and easy card for a birthday, or you want a simple way for a child to make a card to give for a birthday.  Whatever the reason, these cards work well and were easy to make.   You could use any color card base, but I choose Whisper White as it is a color most stampers have on hand.   The stickers have adhesive on the back so will stick immediately to your card base or envelope.

These would make a great gift item too for anyone who likes to use stickers.

Just a reminder that if you click on the photos below you will be able to see an enlarged version of each of them.

Framelits Dies - Hearts Collection Video

Stampin' Up! has just introduced a brand new product to our Big Shot line.   It is called Framelits dies and currently comes in two versions:

Hearts Collection, item #125599:  The innovative, thin, wafer-like design of these dies lets you see where you’re placing the design before you cut! Layer dies inside each other to cut frames for stamp images. Cut single hearts for accents or layering. Use with single sheets of card stock or Designer Series Paper. Hearts Collection coordinates with Take it to Heart Stamp Set. Largest heart is approximately 5-1/4" wide. Collection includes 6 dies in a sturdy envelope for easy storage in our Big Shot Die Storage.
AND

Labels Collection, item #125598:  The innovative, thin, wafer-like design of these dies lets you see where you’re placing the design before you cut! Layer dies inside each other to cut frames for stamp images. Cut single labels for accents or layering. Use with single sheets of card stock or Designer Series Paper. Labels Collection coordinates with our Apothecary Art Stamp Set. Largest label is approximately 5-7/16" wide. Includes 6 dies in a sturdy envelope for easy storage in our Big Shot Die Storage.

I have both of these products and LOVE them.  They are easy to use and so versatile.  I can use as a single item or cut additional items out to layer.  Works perfectly with Designer Series Paper (DSP) too.

Stampin' Up! has a video on-line showing how to use these.  Thought you might like to see it.  If you are reading this via e-mail, you will need to come to my blog to view the video.

SNEAK PEEK - Occasions Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps

I had so much fun making sugar cookies and stamping an impression on each one using the Holiday Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps (item #125152).   The designs are a jack-o-latern, snowflake and a heart.   Stampin' Up! is carrying that set over so you can still order it AND in addition will be premiering a brand new set on January 4th.  It is called Occasions Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps (item #127082).  There is a bunny, a flower, and a shamrock.

 The flower ...

 The shamrock ...

AND the bunny ...

I made a double batch of these yummy cookies the other day and gave them to one of our neighbors for a party she was having at her home today.   I would highly recommend the Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps.  They make such a great gift item too.

Sneak Peek Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps

When you think of fresh baked cookies, do you think of mom and grandma baking away during the holidays.  Well, now when you think of fresh baked cookies, you can think of Stampin' Up!.  On October 1st, 2011 Stampin' Up! is introducing a brand new product called Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps.   It will be available to customers from October 1, 2011 thru January 3, 2012.

Our cookies stamps have 3 designs:  Heart, Snowflake and jack-o-lantern.  This is the heart close up.

I actually made 3 batches of these wonderful sugar cookies the other night.  Our house smelled heavenly.  The cookies were a major hit with my husband and our neighbor.  Tucked the rest away for a Stampin' Up! event where I know they will be a big hit too.

The diameter of the pressed cookie stamp is 2 1/2".   It comes with two recipes.  One recipe is for shortbread cookies and the other sugar cookies.  I made the sugar cookies.  Each batch made 16 large cookies.

Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamp, item #125152 ..... $16.95 ... available October 1st.
solid wood handle and 3 interchangeable stamp images

The stamps are completely food-safe and child-friendly.  They are NOT meant to be used with our inks, glitter, etc.  They are easy to use, easy to clean, and what a great gift idea too.  I give this product an A+.   Thank you Stampin' Up!

A few of my favorite things - Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini Catalog

Are you having as much fun as I am going thru the Stampin' Up! Holiday Mini catalog.  So many new products.   So I thought it would be fun to show you my favorite items from this catalog:

Simply Scored Scoring Tool, item #122334
Gives you the ability to score every 1/8".  Most scoring products have 1/4" score lines, so this one is much more versatile in my opinion.  I like the metal Simply Scored Stylus and the removable Simply Scored Place Markers.  You receive 1 stylus and 3 markers automatically when you purchase the Simply Scored Scoring Tool.   Extras may be purchased separately.

Holly Berry Bouquet DSP, item #124004
I love the look of glitter and sparkle on card stock and designer series paper (DSP).   Holly Berry Bouquet has a mix of glitter and non-glitter sheets.   Each piece is 12" x 12" and there is a total of 12 sheets of DSP in this package.   This paper is perfect for Christmas or other occasions as many of the sheets are tiny flowers and designs.

Stitched Felt - Winter Wishes, item #124108
LOVE THIS.   I have used a number of them this week on Christmas cards that I am making.   It attaches easily to card  stock with the use of Stampin' Dimensionals.  I think the little mittens are darling.  There are 16 pieces total in the package ... 4 each of 4 designs.  These would be perfect on top of a package too to give it that special touch.

Happiest Birthday Wishes Stamp Set

My husband's birthday was on Sunday.  I wanted a clean and simple card for him.  We had a wonderful day together, and then were taken out to dinner by a dear friend.   We also celebrated on Friday night with friends too - I even baked a Funfetti cake for that night which is Hal's favorite cake.

The stamp set for the card is called:
Happiest Birthday Wishes ... it is a Hostess Rewards set available in both wood and clear mount.

I layered two paper punches to create the tag:
Extra-Large Tag, item #119866
Large Tag, item #119876

Anyone placing a minimum $150 order (before tax & shipping) can earn Hostess Reward dollars to spend on Hostess products or regular products in our current catalogs.   It really is a great way to stretch your craft product budget.  Contact me if you need more information.  It is also explained in the front of each catalog.

Wisteria Wonder Meets Rose Red

The new ruffled ribbon for the In-Colors is so nice.   It is the perfect accent to this card.

Stampin' Up! Products Used:
Wisteria Wonder Card Stock, item #122922
Whisper White Card Stock, item #100730
Rose Red Classic Ink, item #101778
VersaMark Ink, item #102283
Baker's Twine - White, item #1024262
Wisteria Wonder 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon, item #122973
Lace Ribbon Border Paper Punch, item #122362
Extra Large Oval Paper Punch, item #119859
Tagtastic Stamp Set, Hostess Rewards
Button Buddies Stamp Set, item #122735 - Wood OR #122737 - Clear Mount
Designer Buttons - Subtles, item #119745

I stamped out two of the flowers and cut them out by hand using my paper snips (item #103579).  These are the BEST scissors I've ever used for precise cutting.   I even have one pair that I use for ribbon only (highly recommend this).  I tied a bow on the handle to remind me to use it for ribbon only.  This way I always have clean cuts on my ribbon.   Once I had the flower stamped & cut out, I glued one onto my card.  Then using a dimensional, I put the 2nd layer on and curled the petals up just a bit.  The center of the flower is a perfect match for our buttons.

I used the VersaMark ink to obtained the deeper Wisteria Wonder flowers on the card base.  VersaMark creates a watermark effect on medium to light color card stock.   I also sponged the edges of the sentiment and over the lace border piece to add a bit more color.

Flower Punch Art

I used the Two Step Owl Paper Punch, item #118074, to make this flower and the Blossom Petals Paper Punch, item #121808, to create the leaves.  Putting dimensionals behind the petal of the flower gave it depth and dimension.

If you haven't used Stampin' Dimensionals from Stampin' Up!, it is one product you really need to try.  It is item #104430 and they come in a pack of 300 dimensionals for $3.95.   They are double-sided adhesive foam dots which add depth and dimension to your cards, scrapbooking, and other projects.   They are also acid free.   I have many customers state they had used brand X, but once they tried the Stampin' Dimensionals they were switching to our product as it is far superior.  I think once you try it that you will agree it is the BEST.

Pompom Trim and Sale-a-Bration

On Page 35 of the Occasions Mini Catalog, you will find Pompom Trim which is approximately 1/4" wide and 5 yards on a roll.   The trim is 100% nylon and comes in three colors.   I found that when I cut it, it did not ravel (a big plus in my book).  I used Multipurpose liquid glue to adhere the trim and it worked extremely well.  I just used a thin line of it down the edge of the card, then gently placed the trim on top then firmly pressed.  The trim could be easily used on a card, scrapbook, or a sewing project.

The self-adhesive die cuts and Designer Series Paper are from the Sale-a-Bration Brochure on Pg 7.  It is called Ice Cream Parlor.   So quick to create a card using the DSP and die cuts.

Get Well Wishes Card

If a customer asks me which stamp set I would recommend, I ALWAYS tell them Teeny, Tiny Wishes.   This Stampin' Up! stamp set consists of 24 stamps and covers almost every occasion during the year.  Another reason I like this stamp set so much is because it is a perfect fit for the Word Window Punch and the Modern Label Punch.  They work so well together.

To accent the scallop circles I used a Stampin' Up! Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen.  It is opaque and stays white when dry.   I find it works best when held straight up and down with slight pressure.   When you store this pen, store is straight up and down unlike our Stampin' Write Markers which are store horizontally to keep moisture on both tips.

Stampin' Up! Products Used:
Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set, item #115370 - Wood only
Thanks for Caring Stamp Set, item #121901 - Wood OR #121961 - Clear Mount
Uni-ball Signo Gel Pen, item #105021
Eyelet Border Paper Punch, item #119853
2 3/8" Scallop Circle Paper Punch, item #118874
1 3/4" Scallop Circle Paper Punch, item #119854
Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, item #118309

It is wonderful all the looks you can create using paper punches.   The Eyelet Border Paper Punch adds a special touch to the base of the card.  A strip of white card stock would of been fine, but this makes the card a bit more special.

You may order from my Stampin' Up! website 24/7 by CLICKING HERE, then click on Shop Now or by contacting me directly. My e-mail link is at the top of the screen.  Remember, during Sale-A-Bration you earn 1 free product for every $50 spent (before tax & shipping).
