Sparkly Stained Glass Birthday Card

Remember last week, I had some samples of the Sparkly Stained Class window sheets that I had created?   Well, this is one of them cut into thirds then adhered to the card base.   I added in some clear rhinestones from Stampin' Up! too.   This is for a friend's birthday next month.

Nautical Birthday Card - Stampin' Up! DSP

One of our friend's birthday was yesterday, and I wanted to make a birthday card to send to him.   This is the one I created last week.   He loves to cruise plus will be going to Hawaii soon, so I thought this was a perfect combination of design elements.

The anchor background and the cherry cobbler color palm trees are from the Designer Series Paper (DSP) package called:  Nautical Expedition, item #122343.

Just a reminder that the "Buy 3, get 1 Free" promotion for DSP ends on Wednesday.   There is still time to order to qualify for this promotion.

Stampin' Up! Card Making Classes

I wanted to share with you the two cards that we will be making at my Stampin' Up! classes this Saturday.   I have a wonderful group of customers/students who attend.   Classes are the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month.  We always do two projects (not always cards).   Always so much fun, and I look forward to teaching the classes too.

Both cards are great examples of paper punch power ... amazing what you can create with a paper punch and some imagination.

Vacation Days and Reminders

Hi,

Spending a couple of days with my wonderful husband as he has time off from work.   Staying close to home, but enjoying the time off.   The weather here has been unbelievably hot.   Yesterday when we got back into the car the temperature gauge said the outside temperature was 122 (the car was in the direct sunlight).   After being on the freeway for a bit, it cooled down to a cool 116 degrees!!!!   We definitely are drinking lots of water and staying indoors as much as possible.

Last night we watched the movie, Jumping the Broom.   Good movie.  We both enjoyed it.

I'm teaching Stampin' Up! classes this Saturday.  Looking forward to that and to seeing everyone too.

Reminders:
1.  Buy 3 DSP, receive 1 FREE promotion ends August 31st.
2.  My 3rd Anniversary promotion ends August 31st also.
3.  The Strength and Hope Campaign ends August 31st.

Don't miss out on any of these above, you still have time to order.

Thank You Card Using Sparkly Stained Glass Technique

Last week I did a video tutorial for Sparkly Stained Glass and thought I would share some additional designs I created.  The card above is a thank you card for one of my customers.
This design isn't incorporated into a card yet ... I achieved the swirling using the eraser tip of a #2 pencil.  Colors used:   Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Yellow, and Pumpkin Pie

This is the window sheet I created while making the video.   Very pleased with the design, and will incorporate it into a card very soon.   Colors used:  Garden Green, More Mustard, and Cajun Craze.

This is a close-up look of the veining you get from the wrinkles in the tissue paper.
Unfortunately the photos above didn't pick up the sparkle which all have from the glitter.    Hope you will try the technique soon.

Thinking about making a purchase of Stampin' Up! products from me?  Don't miss out on a chance to win $50 in free Stampin' Up! merchandise.   More details HERE.

Pyramid Card

Cute bow hold this card closed.

This is how it would look when removed from the envelope.  It does stand on its own.

 Untie and start to open.

Fully opened ... has place for a message.

Last week we had team meeting (always fun & informative).  After the meeting, Joan Hardy stayed awhile longer and the two of us each tackled one of these cards.   We had printed directions, but they were not easy to understand.  It took both of us playing with the cut pieces, the folds, and the ribbons a good hour to each do a card.   The card is unique, but not one I would do often because of the time involved.

Just a reminder that the buy 3 get 1 free DSP promotion ends on the 31st.  Also the Summer Mini Catalog ends on the 31st also.

Sparkly Stained Glass Video Tutorial

Today I have a video tutorial showing you step by step how to create this Sparkly Stained Glass look on your cards and scrapbook pages.   I think once you try it, you will be hooked.  It is fast becoming one of my favorite techniques and look for cards.   Images were stamped using StazOn Black ink.   Stampin' Up! also has StazOn white ink (info below).

One thing I forgot to mention in my video ... when you go to adhere this window sheet to your card, be sure to use sticky strip.   Pulling across the tissue paper area with SNAIL can cause it to rip.

If you are reading this blog entry via e-mail, you will need to return to my blog to view the video tutorial.

Sparkling Stained Glass Look

This is all done on a window sheet.   Stained glass & glitter is done from the back and image is stamped in StazOn from the front when the back is completely dry.

This is a close-up of all of the sparkle created with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter from Stampin' Up!.

I will have more examples of this technique very soon.  It is amazing the different looks you can achieve just by changing out the colors (re-inkers used).  I was happily surprised at all the sparkle with this technique.

Don't forget to check out the contest I'm running for the month of August for my customers.

My Digital Studio Downloads - August 16, 2011 - 2nd post today

The latest My Digital Studio downloads have just been posted.

I finished the digital scrapbook for my nephew last week and actually got it into the mail on the weekend.  I can't wait for him to be able to see it.   It is filled with family photos, memories, and even a long letter I wrote him that was filled with memories of his mom (my sister) who passed away last year.   I used My Digital Studio to create the album.   Hal scanned so many photos for me and then I tweaked the photos in Paint Shop Pro before adding to the digital album.

Sneak Peek Holiday Mini #1

Stampin' Up! will be selling Cellophane Bags (1" x 8" - 50 per pkg) in the new Holiday Mini Catalog. Here's a photo of some of the items I choose to place in the bags:  Old fashion candy stick, pencil, Twizzler, Pez refills, Sixlets, Mint Candy Stick,  Chick N Stick, Tootsie Rolls (small narrow ones), and Smarties.   These ARE NOT food quality bags, so all items were individually wrapped by the manufacturer before I added them to the cellophane bag.  Won't these be perfect for Halloween, Christmas, party favors, and so much more.

Cellophane Bags, Item #124134   available as of September 1st.

Creating some different ideas for the holidays ...  Halloween, Just Because, and Valentine's Day.  Sneak Peek is the Halloween one.

We have an amazing BigZ L die that creates 5 different styles of Peekaboo Frames.  This was a must have for me when I saw it in the catalog.   The frame is the light brown part that opens.   The large scallop is our large scallop punch and then I punched a circle in Very Vanilla that I had stamped with Frankenstein image.   They all fit together so well.

Peekaboo Frames, Bigz Die, item #124587 ... available September 1st.

SpookyBingo Bits Stamp Set, Item #123944 - Wood OR item #123946 - Clear Mount is available now for ordering.

Jolly Bingo Bits stamp set, item #120857 - Wood OR item #121187 - Clear Mount is another set available now that would be great when used with the Peekaboo Frames.

Personally, I see many, many uses for the Peekaboo Frames die year round.   I really like how it mixes and matches with many of our stamp sets and paper punches.

If you live in the Phoenix Area … Sweeties Candies in Chandler  (Alma School & Chandler Blvd – NW Corner) has a HUGE assortment of individually wrapped candies.   However they do not do mail order.  Their parent company does, here’s the website:

Punch Art Presents Birthday Card

I just finished making cards for a card swap that my Stampin' Up! KreatesKards team is doing this month.   We each create a card or card front out of current Stampin' Up! products to send to others on our team that are participating too.

These are my contribution to the swap.   The presents were made using a square paper punch and the triple layer blossom punch.   A true piece of "punch art".   This is a great way to use up scraps of card stock too.

Stampin' Up! products used:
Very Vanilla Card Stock for the base, item #101650

Misc scraps of Card Stock for the presents and ribbon tops
1 3/8" Square Paper Punch, item #119877
Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, item #122464
Happiest Birthday Wishes (Hostess Rewards)

Mini Tutorial to make the presents:

1.  Using the 1 3/8" Square Paper Punch, punch out the number of presents you need for your project.
2.  Using the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, punch out layer 3 and the same number as the boxes.
3.  1/2 of the blossom will be exposure, so only put glue on the 1/3 to 1/2 of the blossom and attach to the back of the square.
4.  Attach the presents to the card

You don't need to do any cutting of the blossoms.   Presents can be created in any color and may be arranged in any pattern or layering pattern.

Tri-Fold Card - Another Style/Look

A short time ago I posted a tutorial for a Tri-Fold Card.  I made the same card but changed out the accent pieces using:

Boho Blossoms Punch, item #119858
Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, item #122464

It is interesting to see how the look of a card can be changed just by changing an accent or a color or adding in a new sentiment.
