Monday Inspiration: Simple yet Elegant

I wanted to share a card with you today for Monday Inspiration that was made by Karen Worrell. Karen is Stampin' Up! Demonstrator in NY and is part of my team. We just started doing card swaps once a month, and this is Karen's creation for this month. Here's more information about her beautiful card:

Punch Art - Halloween Ghost Made From Owl Punch

Seems impossible that Halloween is just a bit over two months away. I've seen so many fun ideas using the owl punch and converting it into other things. Today I wanted to show you the cute little ghost I made using it. I punched out the owl body, then snipped off the feet. Using a Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write Marker I colored them in. Next attached the feet to the card stock using a 2-way glue pen, then attached the ghost body (upside down owl body). I hand drew in the eyes.

I also used the Stampin' Up! Bat Paper Punch to accent the card with lots of bats. I'm really pleased with the result.

Two Step Owl Extra-Large Paper Punch, item #118074
Bitty Bat Large Paper Punch, item #119279
House of Haunts Stamp Set, item #111574

Definitely order the punches and stamp set now so you will have them to create your very own ghosts for Halloween. Shop at my Stampin' Up! website by clicking HERE, then click shop now.

Punch Caddy Will Not Be Offered For Sale

Stampin' Up! states:

We discovered serious quality issues with the product that could not be resolved. Rather than deliver a defective product to demonstrators and customers, we chose to halt production.

Punch Caddy Q&A

We, like you, are disappointed that we cannot offer the Punch Caddies for sale. But because of our ongoing commitment to providing you with the highest quality products, we simply cannot allow this product to go live. If you have additional questions about this matter, we’ve prepared a brief Q&A for your use.

Q: What were the quality issues with the Punch Caddy?
A: Through usability testing we discovered problems with the functionality of the Punch Caddy, as well as issues with materials and aesthetics that did not meet our standards.

Q: Will you offer a Punch Caddy in the future?
A: We have no immediate plans to manufacture the Punch Caddy as it is currently designed. We will possibly look into an equivalent product in the future, but we do not have any firm plans to do so at this time.

Q: Why don’t we get a different vendor to produce the Punch Caddy?
A: The problems with the punch caddy are in the design, molds and materials. Even if we selected another vendor, it would not be possible for them to manufacture a product that would meet our quality standards.

Q: Why are items that are not yet for sale included in the Idea Book & Catalog?
A: The timelines of the Idea Book & Catalog and product development sometimes overlap, and some products are still in development when the catalog goes to press. At the time of printing, we have assurances from our vendors that the products will be ready at or shortly after catalog launch. As the Idea Book & Catalog is the Stampin’ Up! storefront, including them in the catalog provides them with the broadest exposure—much more than they would receive if we were to launch those products independent of the Idea Book & Catalog. Unfortunately, in the case of the Punch Caddy, difficulties arose that will prevent it from being offered at all. Future print runs of the 2010–2011 Idea Book & Catalog will not feature the Punch Caddy at all.

Elegant Lines Impressions Folder - WOW

In the Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog 2010-2011, there are many wonderful and "exclusive" Textured Impressions Embossing Folders on Pg 214. My absolute favorite is Elegant Line, item #119277 ... $7.95.

I love how our half pearls fit perfectly in the circle indentations and add such elegance to the card. It was also accented with our satin ribbon.

No more plain envelopes ..... thought the heart worked well with the anniversary card and the swirls. It is from I {heart} hearts stamp set, item #117010 - Wood OR #118571 - Clear Mount.

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to place an order.

Cute Purse Party Favor Plus Sneak Peeks

This is a party favor bag ... it's 3 1/2" x 2" x 6 3/4". I found them packs of 16 for $2.50 at a local store. I cut off the bottom just above 2" (which is just above the fold). Use the top part for the 1st project and the bottom for the 2nd project below:

Using Sticky Strip, I adhered the bottom to form a new bag. Then decorated. Just couldn't throw the top part away. This one is filled with wrapped lifesaver candies.

SNEAK PEEK: (available September 1, 2010)
Decorative Label Extra-Large Punch, item #120907
Tasteful Trim Big Z XL Die, item #120893

Next I took the bottom part and glued it to 2 top note die cuts (Big Shot) that I had used the large oval punch to cut out an opening to form a handle. Lots of room to fill with a goodie, place a small gift, or ????

Decorated the little purse with rhinestones, ribbon, and a trim (Big Shot). Stampin' Up! now sells rhinestones and half pearls. They both are self adhesive.

Basic Rhinestones (150), item #119246
Basic Pearls (150), item #119247
Each are only $4.95 a package.

SNEAK PEEK: (available September 1, 2010)
Tasteful Trim Big Z XL Die, item #120893

I first saw the purse idea done by Mickey Roberts. After seeing hers, I had to create one of my own and make it unique.

Monday Inspiration: Tablets and Notebook Gift Ideas

I'm really enjoying altering all of the tablets and notebooks. Amazed too at how easy it is to do. You will find more details HERE how how to do this. Here's what I made this weekend. I'm hoping it will inspire you to make one too.

These are small tablets that I purchased. They would easily fit into a purse or backpack. The Owl in the birdcage was made with our new Stamp Set called Aviary, item #116956 - Wood OR #120462 - Clear Mount.

The scallop layers were created using 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Extra-Large paper punch, item #118874 AND 1 3/4" Scallop Circle paper punch, item #119854. I accented it with our new Jewels ... Basic Rhinestones, item 119246 which has 150 pieces in the package (50 each of 3 different sizes).

SNEAK PEEK Alert ... the blue borders on the Bird Cage tablet were done using the BigZ XL Die called Tasteful Trim, item #120893. It has 4 designs for trim/borders PLUS the "negative" of the cut-outs makes great designs too. In fact, the blue border above is using the negative of the zig zag border. Nothing is wasted on this cut-out/paper use.

NOTE: SNEAK PEEK items are not available for purchase until September 1st, 2010.

More fun with the Tasteful Trim die for the Big Shot that I mentioned above and accented with our rhinestone jewels.

Isn't the crayon box and covered tiny bond notebook perfect for a child! I found the box of 4 crayons at our local party store over by the treat bag items. There were all kinds of things to fill a party treat bag with. I adhered the crayon box to the cover using Sticky Strip, item #104294. Sticky Strip is the perfect adhesive for this as you need something extremely strong because of the weight of the crayons.

This is a customized gift that I made for a dear friend. This paper is part of the Designer Series Paper called Travel Journal, item #117156. It will only be available thru the end of the month as it is in our Summer Mini Catalog.

The small cruise ship was stamped and cut out, then glued to the cover. The image is from Sentimental Journey, item #118513 - Wood OR item #120075 - Clear Mount. It is a great coordinating item for the Travel Journal Paper mentioned above. It also is only available thru the end of the month. To view the complete stamp set, click HERE.

If you want either the paper or the stamp set, you need to order now. Don't wait till the last minute and miss out.

Close up of the cruise ship stamped image.

Initials were stamped using Lovely Letters Alphabet stamp set (double mounted), item #115030 - wood only.

UPDATED: 8/23/2010 .. pm 2 new photos added

Same paper, same stamp sets .. but this time I used our 2 sizes of Tag paper punches and brads to accent the Initials:

Large Tag Paper Punch, item #119876
Extra Large Tag Paper Punch, item #119866
Metallic Brads, item #119741

Are you like me and always on the lookout for cute gift ideas. You want it to nice, cute, and not too expensive. Something that would be perfect as a "thank you", "thinking of you", or even a stocking stuffer item. I think I have a perfect gift item for you today. It is a cover for a tube of chap stick. The cover could be decorated any way that you want and if perfect for either male or female.

Here is a photo of one of the completed covers. There are some Sneak Peek items on it:
Stamp Set: Tags Til Christmas, item #120847 - Wood OR item #121169 - Clear Mount
Glimmer Brads: (40 per container and $4.95)
....Glimmer Basics, item#121003
....Glimmer Brights, item #121006
....Glimmer Subtles, item #121004
....Glimmer In Color, item #121005

Stampin' Up! Products Used:
Riding Hood Red Card Stock, item #111348 ... 1 piece 2 3/4" x 6 3/4"
Whisper White Card Stock, item #100730 .... small piece for stamping accents
Bone Folder, item #102300
2-Way glue Pen, item #100425
3/16" Corner Small punch, item #119871
Ornament Punch Extra Large, item #119847
Stamp Set (listed above)
Brads (listed above)
Crop-A-Dile, item #108362

Directions:

Start with your piece of Riding Hood Red Card Stock ...2 3/4" x 6 3/4"

Score at 2 1/2" and 4 1/4" (do not fold yet)

Using the corner rounder, round each of the four corners.

Place the cover in your cutter (do not use guillotine style for this step). Cut from the top crease line to the bottom crease line. Cuts will be at: 1 1/8" and 1 3/4"

Using the Bone Folder, crisply crease the fold lines. Now slide in the tube of chap stick.

Using the Crop-A-Dile punch a hole thru the front and back pieces of the cover so that they line up. Now insert the brad.

Stamp out the images you want to decorate the cover with and attach using 2-way glue.

I used Bashful Blue Classic Ink and Wild Wasabi Classic Ink for my images. The ornament stamped image is a perfect match for the Ornament Paper Punch.

Here are some more SNEAK PEEK images of the stamp set and different color glimmer brads.

Side view of the chap stick holder.

Here's another style I made using the Big Shot Two Tags Die. I die cut 2 pieces of the tag. It is already creased, so overlapped the bottom piece and glued together. Then cut from crease line to crease line (same as in directions). Then completed the same as above.

SNEAK PEEK item in this photo:
Decorative Label Extra-Large Punch, item #120907
More of the glimmer brads too (item #s listed above)

SNEAK PEEK items are not available for purchase until September 1st, 2010. One of the perks of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator is that we are able to pre-order things the month before our customers so that we can work with them, create samples, and show SNEAK PEEKS.

Problem with Spam Comments

Card made using the Big Shot & Flower, Daisies #2, item #114520

Hi Everyone,

I've made a temporary change to my blog ... when you leave comments you will be asked to do a word verify. I hope this won't discourage you from leaving comments.

The last couple of weeks I've been getting a great deal of Spam Comments. I am hoping that by adding in the word verify that the Spam Comments will cease. When it has calmed back down, then I will remove the word verify.

Thank you for your support and for understanding.

LOTS of fun projects in the works. Can't wait to post them all over the next week.

Altered Spiral Notebook plus Sneak Peek

This weekend I came across a great deal on notebooks, so picked up a few. Decided that I was going to learn how to make an altered notebook. I've seen so many beautiful ones, and knew that I could make one too.

This is a standard 8" x 10 3/4" school spiral notebook. It has 70 pages of paper in it, and you can find them at most stores. I gently tore out the first sheet of paper and used it as my template marking all of the holes with a pencil and then punching them out with my Crop-A-Dile. Then you cut into the hole from the side with scissors so that it will slide over and fit the spiral part.

I decorated the new cover AFTER I had attached to the original cover. With the next one, I will decorate the background first then attach. By doing it first, you cover the white edge. I don't think it is really noticeable but I know it is there. I adhered the new and original cover together using sticky strip which gives a great bond. I ran it along the edges and just a bit in the middle too.

All products used were Stampin' Up! with the exception of the notebook.

Colors I used were: Poppy Parade, Concord Crush, and Pear Pizzazz both for the card stock and the classic inks.

Background was created using Basic Black Classic ink on Whisper White card stock. Stampin' Jumbo Wheel used: Petite Petals, item #120322. I used the Background Whimsy Technique and also highlight certain areas of the design using our Uni-Ball Signo Gel Marker, item #105021. It truly is an opaque white that gives great coverage.

Did you notice the Sneak Peek Item???? Look closely at the Monogram ... we have a brand new 2 1/2" Extra Larger Circle Punch, item #120906. It will be $16.95 and will be available as of September first.

Monogram accent piece made with:
2 1/2" Circle Extra-Large Punch, item #120906
2 3/8" Scallop Circle Extra-Large Punch, item #118874
1 3/4" Scallop Circle Extra-Large Punch, item #119854
1 3/8" Circle Large Punch, item #119860
Broadsheet Alphabet Stamp Set, item #118724 - Wood OR #120585 - Clear Mount.

I absolutely LOVE this. I used the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, item # 119277. Then I accented it using Stampin' Up! Jewels called Basic Pearls, item #119247.
Aren't they just the perfect fit for this piece. They are "half-back" pearls and there are 150 in the package. 50 each of 3 sizes: 5mm, 3mm, and 2mm. Each has an adhesive back. I, for one, am planning to order a few packages of these and the Basic Rhinestones, item #119246 (pearls or rhinestones package is only $4.95).

I can see this design on a wedding or anniversary card and the pearls give it that extra elegant bling.

I decided that I would like a pocket on the inside of the notebook. So basically did the same thing as the cover, except for only 1/3 of the page. Used the Scallop Edge Border punch, item #119882, to accent it. Attached on 3 sides using Sticky Strip.

Wouldn't this make a great teacher gift or gift for a co-worker? I'm planning to make a number of them as gifts this year.

Stampin' Up! has the best quality products and such a wide range of products too. If you have any questions, please let me know (e-mail link at top of this page). If you would like to place an order, you may order 24/7 at my Stampin' Up! website by clicking HERE then click on shop now or by contacting me directly.

Ban on Plain Envelopes !!!

Why send a card with just a plain white envelope when you can send one with a image stamped on it. It really adds to the WOW factor of what you sending/giving. A lot of hard work and a lot of fun go into making our beautiful cards. Just take a couple extra minutes and stamp an image that coordinates with your card on the envelope too.

These envelopes match cards I am making for a friend to use as Thank You cards. I think she will be very pleased with the stamped image on the envelope too. Here's a sample of the style card they are going with:

Sneak Peek - Stampin' Up! Designer Fabric

Oh my gosh, what a surprise to open the new Holiday Mini Catalog for Stampin' Up! and see that we will also be offering Designer Series Fabric for sale to our customers!!!! We have two packages being offered in the new catalog, and each one if pictured below:

Deck the Halls, item #121716 ... $9.95 (not available until September 1, 2010)
Coordinates with: Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke, and Crumb Cake.

Candy Cane Christmas, item #121715 .... $9.95 (not available until September 1, 2010)
Coordinates with: Garden Green, Baja Breeze, Blushing Bride, and Real Red.

Fabric is cotton. Each set includes 3 designs that coordinate together. They are considered an "extra-wide fat quarter" as their approximate dimensions of each piece is 28" x 18". Each assortment will include a instruction booklet that has a number of ideas of what you can make with the fabric.

I heard that at the Stampin' Up! Convention last month that Shelli Gardner (Cofounder and CEO) and her daughter came out on stage in skirts made with this material. Later on they changed clothes and the skirts were then used as tree skirts for Christmas trees.

We also will be selling Big Shot Fabric Adhesive Roll, item #122194 ... $14.95 (not available until September 1, 2010). Roll is 11 1/2" x 72" .
This adhesive can be applied to the fabric with an iron, run thru the Big Shot, and then applied to your project (peel the transfer sheet off, then iron fabric die cut onto your project). It is machine washable too.

You could use the fabric as an applique, for an accent to a card or scrapbook, or even to create a Christmas Stocking. I think a rag purse would be great too.

I haven't tried the fabric yet, but I do have my pre-order ones here. I want to do some die cuts for cards and think they will look amazing. Do you have any ideas of what you will use the fabric for??? Feel free to leave a comment.

Just a reminder that the Summer Mini Catalog only has about 2 weeks left on it. So if there is something in that catalog you wanted, please place your order now so that you will not miss out. You may order 24/7 thru my Stampin' Up! website by clicking here, then click on Shop Now.

Monday Inspiration: Team Card Swap

We had a team meeting here last Thursday night. It is the first time we have done a card swap. Each person that wanted to participate made a card front of any design that they wanted. The only requirement was that it be made with Stampin' Up! products (logical since we are all Stampin' Up! Demonstrators).

It was fun to see what each person had made, and it will be a great way to share new ideas. We are going to be doing the card swap monthly. I have two more I will post later this week. They are coming long distance, and one of them hasn't arrived yet.

Not everyone put their name or list of supplies on the card front, so I will put in what I have. This way at least you can see the beautiful cards and have them for inspiration.
