Paper Piercing With Reason to Smile Stamp Set

 Yesterday, I told you about a new stamp set that will be offered in July 2012 ONLY thru a special promotion by Stampin' Up! called Reason to Smile.   You can read more about it HERE.   The card above uses two of the stamps in this new set (flower with stem shadow, and flower with stem outline).   It uses a two-step stamping technique where you stamp the shadow first in a lighter color, then stamp the outline in a darker color.   I have a two-step technique tutorial HERE.   I thought the little frog springing up added a touch of whimsy to the card.

 This is one of the three sheets in the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack sold by Stampin' Up!  It has 3 unique templates that are each 6" x 6".  The sheets/designs coordinate with punches on Pg 182-185, Edgelits  on Pg 190, and Framelits on Pg 191 of the main catalog.

I lined up the outline of the white cutout with the paper-piercing sheet and then using the paper-piercing tool pierced the dots around the inside edge of the red card stock.

Here's a close-up of the card base.  I think this embossing folder (Fancy Fan Folder) looks a little bit like waves.  It could be used for clouds too.

Penquins ... I LOVE penguins. They are so cute and so versatile too. You can use them for a holiday card, a wintertime card, a birthday card, whatever you would like. Stampin' Up! has some great penquins this year in our catalogs, so I just had to share them with you.


Here's two versions of the exact same stamp .. the one on the right was simply inked on a black stamp pad which inks the complete stamp to include the TO and the FROM and was stamped on Whisper White Card Stock. The one on the left I inked using our Stampin' Write markers and stamped it on Very Vanilla Card Stock. Did you notice the TO and the FROM are not stamped on the image? Also did you notice that the beak and the scarf are different colors?

When you ink with a marker, you can ink just the areas you want to show and also change out the colors too. I did a video on How to Ink Your Stamps and explained the use of markers in it. CLICK HERE to view the video.


Here is the penquin as a tag. All you need to do is add in a punched hole and a ribbon or you could use dimensionals and add to a package.


Here's my finished card. I added in some Big Shot die-cuts and some tiny penquins too from the Jolly Bingo Bits stamp set.
