Ribbon Bookmarks - Mini Tutorial & Thirty-One Products

I was playing around the other day with some of my leftover ribbon pieces.   I had seen a similar bookmark in an Etsy Store a while back with a much larger paperclip.

The bookmarks are easy to make.  I took a larger paperclip, tied 4 different colors of ribbon (old olive, basic black, whisper white, and a Pink Pirouette.  I actually knotted the riboon twice, then pulled together using a decorative brad.

Be careful that you knot the ribbon on the correct end of the paperclip, otherwise it will not slide onto the book page to mark your spot.

Thought they would make great small gifts, stocking stuffers, or a just because gift.

You can find extra-large paperclips at most office supply stores in packs of 10 if you want a larger paperclip for the bookmark.

Thirty-One Products

Notebook Cover

Just had to share a new note cover I made that holds a pen.   It will be a class project next week along with the petite purse.  I will post a tutorial after my classes are complete.

Specialty Designer Series Paper - Mocha Morning Specialty, item #122366
(2 ea of 2 single-sided designs with black flocking ... 4 sheets total AND
4 sheets total of 2 sheets each of 4 double-sided designs .... 8 sheets total)

What is fun with these types of covers is that you can decorate them any way  you want and in any color.   They could easily be made for a male or a female by changing out the note pad and the card stock colors used.

These pads are 3 1/2" x 7 1/2" and were found in the dollar bin at the store.   I have seen them at numerous locations/different stores.

Bone Folder, item #102300

Directions:
1.      Using the Big Shot cut out the two tags in Whisper White.
2.       Stamp 3 flower images on the Wisteria Wonder Card Stock and punch them out using the Blossom Punch.
a.       Punch out 3 solid Wisteria Wonder Blossom flowers.
b.      Layer/off-set the flowers so that the stamped image is on top. (SNAIL or Multipurpose Glue)
c.       Attach a small pearl to the center of each.
d.      Attach 1 to the bookmark tag SNAIL or Multipurpose Glue)
e.      Set the other 2 flower aside for later.

3.       Using Wisteria Wonder, punch out two 5 Petal Flowers.
a.       Layer/off-set the flowers using SNAIL or Mulitpurpose Glue.
b.      Attach a small pearl to the center.
c.       Attach to the larger tag using Multipurpose Glue – part of the flower will be higher than the tag, so put the glue on the tag NOT the flower itself.   I find that the slit in the tag is a good stopping spot for the glue.  Glue will be above the slit, not below

4.       Creating your card base:
a.       Using the 8 ½” x 11” piece of Designer Series Paper (Paper Stack) – Simply Scored Scoring Tool
                                                               i.      8 ½ “ side …. Score at 4 ¼”
                                                             ii.      11” side …. Score at 5 ½”

                                                               i.      8 ½” side … Score at 4 ½”
                                                             ii.      Turn paper … 8 ½” side … score at 4 ½”
iii.      (no scoring on the 11” side on the diagonal plate)
c.       Crisply crease all your score lines on the card base.  Do the 4 ¼” and 5 ½” creases first and lay card stock flat.
                                                               i.      With corners placed inward (lower right corner and upper left), fold card up
ii.      Then fold left to right.
iii.      This creates your two pockets.

5.       Punch out the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border using the 2” x 7” piece of Whisper White.
a.       Place SNAIL on top of the front crease, then place ribbon on top.
b.      Trim to fit.

6.       Attach the small piece of DSP across the bottom of the front of the card.
7.       Attach the remaining two flowers to the front.
8.       Slide in bookmark in the front pocket.
9.       Slide in tag in the inside pocket.

Petite Purse BigZ Die

I must admit when I first heard about this die, I had decided not to purchase it.   Then I saw more and more of these "cute" purses on other blogs and before I knew, I had to have the die too.   The purse is larger than I expected.  Measurements are:

4" high with handle
2" high without handle
1 1/4" deep
2 3/4" wide at the base

It's perfect for a little girl's birthday party, a bridal shower, or even a Miche Bag party.  I'm sure you can think of many more ideas.    The one above is made with Wisteria Wonder Card Stock.

Petite Purse BigZ Die, item #125606
Summer Smooches Fabric Designer Brads, item #125589

This die will definitely get a lot of use.  I am so glad I decided to purchase it.  This purse was filled with lifesavers and given to our neighbor's little girl.   She was thrilled with it.
