Butterfly Paper Punch Card - Tutorial

I am so excited!!!!! This card is 100% my own creation. I came up with the technique and design on my own. It is truly a KreatesKards Original, and I am so happy to share it with all of you.

I started playing with the punch and the cut-out butterflies today when I discovered how easily the butterflies intertwine with each other and make an amazing design. The end result was this beautiful card.

Products Used:
1 piece 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" Orchid Opulence (card base - item #100427)
1 piece 5 1/2 x 2 1/2" Old Olive Card Stock (accent bar - item #100702)
1 piece 12" x 12" Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper (DSP) - (for Butterflies - item #115671)
Butterfly Paper Punch (item #116629)
Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set (item #115370)
Chocolate Chip Classic Ink Stamp Pad (item #100908)
SNAIL Adhesive (item #104332)
Bone Folder (item #102300)

I punched out the 16 butterflies first using the Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper (DSP). This paper is double sided. Set 2 of the butterflies aside as they are not part of the butterfly row we will be making. They are for accents on the card.

Placing your Orchid Opulence cardstock horizontally (11" across) score at the 5 1/2" mark. Using your bone folder crisply crease the fold line. This is your card base.

Using SNAIL adhesive, attach the Old Olive piece of cardstock to the card base.
I left a litte bit more room on the bottom than on the top, but you can center it if you would like betwen the top and bottom.

See how easily the butterflies intertwine with each other. I put a little bit of adhesive where the pieces meet. You don't need a great deal, just enough to keep them attached for building this using 14 of the 16 butterflies you cut out.

Keep intertwining the butterflies until you have put 14 of them together. Don't use the 2 you have set aside. They are not to be use in the Butterfly row here.

Once you have all the butterflies hooked together, gently run SNAIL adhesive or double sided sticky tape over the back doing a good coverage. Besides attaching the butterfly row to the Old Olive, it will help to keep the butterflies together.

Attached the butterfly row to the Old Olive cardstock. There will be a slight bit of overhang of the butterfly wings on each side. That is OK.

This is the backside of the card. You can see the overhang of the butterfly wings. Carefully trim on both ends of the row with sharp scissors.

Using your Chocolate Chip ink and the stamp of your choice (I used "thinking of you"), stamp your greeting.

Using SNAIL Adhesive in the centers of the 2 remaining butterflies, attach them to the card.
DO NOT put SNAIL over the whole butterfly.

Gently bend/curl the wings of these 2 butterflies.

Using a fine line black marker, draw in the bodies (straight line) and the head (tiny circle filled in) and add antennas (2 little lines).

Your card is now done and ready to be mailed.
