Let's Make Sunflowers - Tutorial

Yesterday I posted the cards from an Stampin' Up! Open House that I had attended on Saturday. I had many requests to do a tutorial on how the sunflowers were made. So here is the requested tutorial. The sunflowers are quick and easy to make. All that is needed is paper, 3 punches, and adhesive.

I used:
4 1/4" x 5 1/2" paper - Crushed Curry (item #115319) for the sunflower base
4 1/4" x 5 1/2" paper - Old Olive (item #100702) for petals/leaves
4 1/4" x 5 1/2" paper - Chocolate Chip Patterns Designer Series Paper (item #112164)
Scallop Circle Punch (item #109043)
5-Petal Flower Punch (item #109041)
1" Circle Punch (item #109046)
SNAIL Adhesive (item #104332)

Here are my 3 sheets of paper and my paper punches, all set to go.

Punch out 3 of the scallop circles using the Crushed Curry. I found it easier to punch with the "bottom" of the punch facing up. That way you are sure you are punching out a full scallop circle. Set the scallop circles aside. These are the base of your sunflower.

Next punch out three 1" circle in the Chocolate Chip Patterns Designer Series Paper. Set them aside. These will be the center of your sunflower.

Use your 5-Petal Flower punch to cut out TWO flowers. These will be cut apart to make leaves for your sunflower ... see photo below.

Each sunflower needs 2 leaves. They remain together and are cut from the 5-Petal Flower you just punched out. Each 5-Petal flower will give you 2 sets of leaves and 1 single that is not used.

Here are all your pieces now punched out and ready to be assembled.

Take your scallop circle and with sharp scissors cut in at the indentation of the scallop. Do NOT cut all the way thru, leave an area in the center in tack. I drew in an arrow so you could more clearly see the depth/distance that I cut in from the scallop indentation. Do this with all 3 scallops.

Using SNAIL Adhesive attached the 1" circle to the Scallop Circle.

Using SNAIL Adhesive attach the leaves to the back of the Scallop Circle. Be sure the leaves peak out from behind. Your sunflower is now complete and ready to be attached to a card.

For this card, the sunflowers were attached to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals (item #104430) so that they are setting above the card. Give great dimension to your card when you do this.
