Gate Fold Card - Tutorial

Today we are making a Gate Fold card. I wanted it to be able to be closed and came up with my ribbon and Jumbo Eyelet combination. The card matches the Box in a Bag that I posted yesterday, so would make a great gift bag and card idea.

PAPER:
1 piece ... 4" x 6" Pink Pirquette or Pretty in Pink (greeting & tabs)
1 piece ... 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" Pink Pirquette or Pretty in Pink (card base)
2 pieces ... 2" x 5 1/4" Pink Flamingo DSP (double sided) -- (front panels)
1 piece ... 4" x 5 1/4" Pink Flamingo DSP (double sided) -- (inside panel)

MISC:
Ribbon: 1 piece 18" long - 1/4" grosgrain ribbon Pretty in Pink
Ribbon: 2 pieces 4" long - 1/4" grosgrain ribbon Pretty in Pink
Crop-A-Dile
Bone Folder
SNAIL Adhesive
Mini Glue Dots
Jumbo Eyelets Pewter

PAPER PUNCHES:
Round Tab
Scallop Oval

Score your 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of paper (Pink Pirquette) at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8" (DO NOT FOLD YET)

Attach the inside panel (4" x 5 1/4" Pink Flamingo) using SNAIL adhesive - use the score lines as your guide. Flip paper over. Be careful to keep it in the correct direction so that the TOP of the card will be the same for both sides.

Attach the two side panels (2" x 5 1/4" Pink Flamingo) with SNAIL adhesive using the score lines as your guide for placement.

Using the bone folder, crease your front panels. This will give you a crisp fold.

Stamp your greeting using Bravo Burgundy Stampin Pad Classic Ink. I used Thinking of You from the Sincere Salutations stamp set. Then use the Scallop Oval paper punch to punch it out.

Attach greeting to inside panel of card using SNAIL adhesive.

BE SURE TO LOOK AT HOW THE TABS ARE ATTACHED HERE ... 2 on one side, 1 on the other.

Punch out 3 round tab designs with your Round Tab paper punch. Score in the middle to make folding easier.

Attach the 3 round tabs to the card. When you attach them you will open them, add glue to the inside of the tab on both sides then position thetab using the inside and outside part of the panel. This way part of the panel is actually inside the tab. The tabs facing left are attached to the right panel. The tab facing right is attached to the left panel. NOTE: The top and bottom one face left. The middle one faces right. Look at the photo of the inside (2 photos up), this gives a good view of how they are attached.

Using the Crop-A-Dile, punch a 3/16" hole in each tab and attach your Jumbo Eyelets.

For the upper and lower round tabs, I put a piece of 4" ribbon thru each eyelet. Made the ends even and put a mini glue dot to hold the ribbon together (do not put the glue dot on the panel, just on the ribbon for this step).

For the center ribbon which is 18" long:

Use a mini glue dot to attach the center of the ribbon to the back of the card. Bring ribbon around to the front of the card from each side. Using a couple of mini glue dots, I attached the ribbon to the front panels to keep it in place.

Now run the ribbon thru the eyelet, one side will go thru the eyelet twice so you can tie a bow and have it hold in place.

Now your card will open like a present and can be retied.
